A company spokesperson said: “Menzies Distribution prides itself on its newstrade wholesale and delivery services throughout the Borders and beyond. We regularly examine our operation to ensure we provide the most efficient operating model, protecting the long-term viability of the newstrade supply chain, offering the best service to publishers and retailers alike and being a responsible employer.

“The unprecedented circumstances presented by Covid-19 have meant that we, like many businesses, are in a position where we are shaping a ‘new normal’.

“It is on that basis that we have taken the decision to relocate operations from our Galashiels branch and we are working to support impacted employees at this time.”
