A NEWLY launched gift company will step into Selkirk’s Forty Eight pop-up shop on Thursday (March 7).

Liberty Star Trading, started by Souters Caroline Penman and Leanne Main, will host a Mother’s Day shopping event at the Market Place retail space in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The pair began their company after their accessories, jewellery and giftware stall at Knowepark Primary’s Christmas Fayre last December was sold out.

Margaret Sweetnam, the newly-appointed project manager of the pop-up shop initiative, said: “Pop-ups are perfect if you run a home-based business or sell on the internet and want some extra exposure.

“There are more empty shops on our high streets, and more opportunities for ‘pop-up people’ like Caroline and Leanne to give their businesses a boost.”

The event runs between 5pm and 9pm, with wine and nibbles served.
