Common Good

Kirstin Scott (letters, February 19) misunderstands the point I made about Common Good assets. Scottish Borders Council is not obliged to maintain more than one recreation ground. It maintains the Pringle Park which it is not in strict point of law obliged to do. SBC also runs the Town Hall which this year has cost over £19,000 to run and the income gained has been a mere £1,200. If all of this has to come out of the Common Good funds there will be much less help for other causes.
