Pringle Park clarification

I would like to clarify some points and correct the errors in Councillor Riddell-Carre's letter last week.

First, Pringle Park is a Common Good asset. The decision to reclassify Pringle Park as Common Good was made by Scottish Borders Council in December.

Secondly SBC's chief financial officer confirmed in December 2009 that the maintenance of Pringle Park will not be charged to the Selkirk Common Good Fund as this is the case with other parks in the Borders.

The purpose of the Selkirk Common Good is to benefit the people of Selkirk. SBC's members have a legal responsibility to act in our best interests in decisions on the Selkirk Common Good. I wish to ensure this happens and trust that they do too.
