Selkirk’s sweetie shop set for a crafty switch
THOSE in the Royal Burgh with a sweet tooth worried by the apparent closing of the town’s luxury confectioner, can relax.
For while Sweet Temptation is now closed, the shop is set to re-open selling sweets and crafts on September 1.
Morris Manson, who together with his wife owns the shop and another in the town, says his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Liz Manson, gave up the running of Sweet Temptation for family reasons.
“The shop is now closed for refurbishment and the lady who is taking it over will be selling sweets and craft goods,” Mr Manson confirmed to The Wee Paper this week.
“Although I’ve no idea what the name of the new business will be,” he added.
Since being acquired by the Mansons some six years ago, the High Street premises has already had periods as a grocer’s and tattoo parlour.
“Yes, it has had a few different lives already,” laughed Mr Manson, who is also well-known in the Borders for his other roles as a professional toastmaster and celebrant.
