Moody to lead SNP’s Selkirk branch
SNP's new Selkirk and District branch committee, left to right, Sue Carroll, Jim Gibson, Sarah Gibson, Jim Moody and Margaret Moody.
JIM Moody has been appointed the convener of the new Scottish National Party branch for Selkirk and District at its first AGM on Monday night.
And the ex-Selkirk Football Club chairman has vowed to win support for the Yes Campaign ahead of the 2014 independence vote, as well as see an SNP councillor represent Selkirkshire again at Newtown St Boswells, following Kenneth Gunn’s defeat at last year’s council elections.
Mr Moody told The Wee Paper: “We are a new branch and will have to get up and running as quickly as possible as we have the election of a lifetime in 2014 for independence.
“At branch level, we have a great team and to win this election it is going to take teamwork with team players.
“We already are out and going in the Borders with the Yes Campaign and have had some really good feedback.”
Other appointments at Monday’s AGM in the Fleece were: vice-convener, Sue Carroll; secretary, Margaret Moody; treasurer, Sarah Gibson; membership secretary, Jim Gibson; social convener, Moira Oakley.
