No sign of postmaster replacement

THE search for someone to take over the Station Road Post Office continues, Selkirk Community Council heard this week.

Sub-postmaster Derek Wood is due to close the shop tomorrow (Saturday), which is one of the oldest businesses in the Royal Burgh.

Councillor Gordon Edgar said on Monday: “The shop is for sale as Mr Wood is retiring.

“The Post Office is trying to get someone in, but they have had no luck yet.”

Community council chairman Graham Easton added: “The problem is, while the Station Road is not rural, it is away from the town centre.”
