Merchant Company Curling

Merchant Company Curling

The Selkirk Merchant Company’s annual curling competition reached a conclusion last Thursday when the final was played between the teams skipped by David Heard and Skip Houston.

The match turned out to be one of two halves, with David’s rink storming into an early six-shot lead, only to lose this advantage in a single end.

Thereafter it was nip and tuck until the last end when the Houston rink secured the final two shots of the match to win 9-8 and claim the trophy for the first time.

With Skip Houston in the winning rink were Angela Lauder, Jim Harold and Andrew Proudfoot.

The runners up were David Heard, Merle Heard, Shirley Houston and David Mitchell.
