Stark’s choice is charity
THE talents of local poet and story-teller Billy Stark have resulted in a significant financial boost for two charitable organisations in the Borders.
Three months ago Billy released Stark Choices, a DVD featuring a selection of poems and songs from the Borders, including some of his own work.
And he decided that the proceeds should be shared between Scott’s Selkirk and the Borders Cancer Centre.
Almost 500 copies have been sold, resulting in each of the local bodies receiving cheques for £1,698.
“I’ve been astonished by the interest shown in the DVD,” said Billy at last Thursday’s cheque presentation in the Borders General Hospital.
He added: “I really enjoyed making it over the summer months, and it’s especially pleasing that Scott’s Selkirk and the Borders Cancer Centre can benefit in some small way.”
Stark Choices was produced by local company Lindean Lore, and copies can be purchased at the Scott’s Selkirk Shop in the Market Place.
