Dog chews book and leads to reprint

A BOOK of pictures of Selkirk in the 1950s and ‘60s which was published in 2000 is likely to be republished and back on the bookshelves in time for Christmas.

Alan Davidson’s Memories of Selkirk was a sellout and is now out of print.

Alan told The Wee Paper: “I had been considering getting it reprinted and got in touch with the printers, Richardson & Son of Hawick this week.

“They said, strangely enough, that they had taken a phone call from someone in Selkirk whose copy had been eaten by his dog. They had to tell him that they had none.

“They did not take a note of the caller’s name, so, through The Wee Paper, I’d like to reassure the mystery dog-owner that the book is being reprinted and will back on the local bookshelves in November.”
