Forest Pitch fears

A POLICE spokesman has promised officers will monitor the Forest Pitch after evidence came to light that its pavilion is being used for underage drinking sessions.

Photos on social networking sites have emerged showing youngsters with alcohol inside the changing rooms of the £460,000 Olympiad arts project, which is between Selkirk and Midlem.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “We are trying to find out more about these events and are certainly keeping an eye on things.

“Obviously there is concern for the safety of the kids who are going to the middle of nowhere to drink.”

Local councillor Gordon Edgar added: “It is sheer desperation if these youngsters are drinking at the Forest Pitch – it is in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by mud.”
