It’s time for music as Selkirk Sessions get underway

THE annual Selkirk Sessions traditional music festival gets underway on Friday (October 5) and runs until Sunday.

Venues are the Town Arms (upstairs and down), The Fleece lounge, the Conservative Club, O’Malley’s and Selkirk Bowling Club.

Saturday’s workshop is in O’Malley’s from 11.30 to 1pm and is a joint class involving spoons, tea chest bass and washboard with expert tutors and will conclude with a musical session accompanied by local artists at various venues.

O’Malley’s is also the venue at 2pm for the competitions – 16 and over instrument; 16 and over song and poetry; under 16 instrumental song and the Chorus Cup.

Sunday afternoon (1pm) sees the start of the still standing session at O’Malley’s and sessions at the various venues around the town.
