Riddell’s Queens set is royally approved

RIDDELL Fiddles Junior Ceilidh Band were on song at one of Edinburgh’s most impressive music venues last weekend, pictured right.

The young members of the Argus Centre group played in the Queens Hall – a former Georgian church turned concert space – on Sunday as part of the prestigious Scots Fiddle Festival.

The players aged from nine to 14 performed alongside the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop in two sets that both bands learnt together at a session in Selkirk, and were well appreciated by the audience.

The three-day Scots Fiddle Festival celebrates one of Scotland’s most iconic instruments, and was headlined by All-Ireland champion Liz Carroll. Riddell Fiddles round off another busy year of performances at Hawick Congregational Church in Hawick tomorrow, as well as Scott’s Selkirk on December 1 and Lillesleaf Church on December 16.
