Fife angler found dead in Selkirk river

A PENSIONER from Fife has been named as the angler who was found dead in the Ettrick Water at Selkirk on Tuesday, writes Bob Burgess.

The body of 68-year-old Jim Corrigan from Falkland was recovered from the river close to the footbridge at Bannerfield.

He’d been seen fishing upstream the near the cauld and it is believed he became and collapsed.

A dog-walker spotted Mr Corrigan in the river around 11.40am and civilian rescue workers recovered his body three hours later.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.
