Scott strolls into hill walking club role

THE Scottish Borders Hill Walking Club met in Lindean Hall for its annual general meeting, at which Stan Scott, of Selkirk, was elected as chairman for his sixth term of office.

Officials also include the Selkirk duo of Atholl Innes (president) and Wattie Miller, alongside Yarrowford’s Evelyn Horsburgh (secretary), who are joined on the committee by Marion McQueen, Bob Sneddon and Mike Still.

Treasurer Dougal Gillespie has stood down after 16 years in the position and Roger Adams has taken over, with Dougal receiving a gift of cash for all his efforts.

The club meets every second Sunday and walks for 2013 include a revisit to Patterdale in the Lake District, Coldingham, Langholm and Denholm for the lunch walk.

Members at the AGM were also given a talk and slide show by John Rogerson of his hikes, and motorcycle rides, over the Borders hills.
