A man has admitted giving a false name to police officers visiting his home to execute an arrest warrant out for him at the time.

John Donaldson, 51, pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice at his home in Hawick’s Ivanhoe Terrace on June 28 last year.

Defence lawyer Mat Patrick told Jedburgh Sheriff Court: “It was a stupid thing to do.”
