LESSONS of peace from the Battle of Flodden will be discussed by Professor Tom Woodhouse of Bradford University Centre for Conflict Resolution at the first of this autumn’s lecture programme at Crookham Peace and Reconciliation Centre.
In his peace seminar, to be held later this month, Prof Woodhouse will outline how despite wars, conflicts and battlefields are rich sources for peace education.
Prof Woodhouse’s lecture will include examples from the Battle of Flodden itself through to more recent instances such as Guernica in Spain and the lessons of the Christmas truce in the First World War.
Professor Woodhouse, the founder and director of the Centre for Conflict Resolution, said: “In my talk I will explain why and how some of the great conflicts of history including Flodden Field have happened and how they can be used to learn the lessons of peace.”
The seminar will take place on Monday, October 21 at 7pm at the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Crookham United Reformed Church.
Entrance to the seminar is free, but donations to the work of the centre will be gratefully accepted.
