‘Abuse by management’

AN Ettrickbridge man has stepped up his calls for his ex-employer, Scottish Borders Council, to adopt a zero tolerance policy on what he claims is “abuse by management”.

Gordon Branston, who held a £25,000-a-year post in SBC’s wellbeing and safety department, but was dismissed in May last year while on sick leave, has written to Borders MP Michael Moore, as well as MSPs John Lamont and Christine Grahame.

Mr Branston, 47, said that since The Wee Paper reported his claim that work-related stress at SBC was at pandemic levels, he has received “a substantial number of contacts with SBC employees”.

He added: “I have had two meetings with ex-employees and letters from employees in the advanced stages of taking court action on the subject of bullying, harassment and intimidation.”
