Break-ins at sports clubs

Selkirk’s cricket club and football club were broken into early this morning (Thursday).

Three men, aged 25, 23 and 16, have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged breaks-ins and thefts. They are scheduled to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court tomorrow (December 7).

Ross Anderson, vice chairman of Selkirk Football Club, told The Wee Paper: “It was just sheer luck: the police were attending a break-in at the cricket club, and when the burglar alarm went off at the football club, they were right next door.

“We don’t leave money at the club, so the only thing they could take was drink. We can’t praise the police enough: they were on the ball.”
