Broadband cash available for Souter firms
SELKIRK businesses have the opportunity to improve the town's broadband coverage through bidding for a share of a €1million funding package.
The European Union and Scottish Government funded LEADER programme seeks to address rural issues through innovative projects in local communities.
As a result, Scottish Borders Council is inviting communities and groups of businesses to bid for a share of the LEADER cash to deliver collaborative broadband projects to benefit the region.
An SBC spokesperson said: "Access to broadband is of one of the most important issues facing the rural communities and business in the Scottish Borders.
"Better broadband links would improve access to training, enterprise, employment and social opportunities."
Grants of up to 100 per cent are available for broadband project costs and any bids must demonstrate demand and economic impact.
Full applications will then be invited, which will be assessed on criteria including innovation, sustainability, impact on jobs and businesses, area and evidence of need.
The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday, July 30.
