Cash grants to help fuel carbon cuts

FUEL giants Shell are looking for small Selkirk businesses with big ideas on how to cut carbon emission.

Grants of up to 40,000 are available under the company's Springboard programme.

Chairman of Shell UK James Smith commented: "Small businesses are a proli?c reservoir of creative thinking on low- carbon tech nologies.

"Shell Springboard offers no-strings ?nancial awards to help these businesses get their ideas off the ground. Scotland has faired well in the past in Orkney, Dundee and St Cyrus, so hopefully there will be success this time round in the Selkirk area."

Grants are offered for commercially viable, innovative schemes that will lead to greenhouse gas reductions.

The deadline for this year's bids is 5pm on November 5.
