Eildon puts offices up for sale ahead of move

SIX Eildon Housing offices are going on the market as the housing association prepares to move to Selkirk.

The housing provider is centralising it 80 office staff from six Borders offices to Ettrick Riverside in June.

And it is selling off buildings in Galashiels, Melrose and Peebles.

Its current grade B-listed HQ in Melrose, Eildon House, is on the market at offers over 650,000.

And estate agents DTZ are confident of finding a buyer for the Georgian property.

DTZ’s surveyor Nicola Moore said: “Properties like Eildon House rarely come on to the market and we are expecting substantial interest.

“It offers great development potential and could certainly be developed into a fantastic family home.”

East Port, their office in central Melrose, is also suitable for conversion to residential use she says, and is up for sale at offers over 75,000.

Other offices on the market are in Galashiels’ High Street, Roxburgh Street and Bridge Street, and in Peebles’ Bridgegate.

Meanwhile, the association is converting the former Grade A-listed 150-year-old weaving shed at Ettrick Riverside to be its new HQ and staff will move into the new office in June.

Eildon Association chief executive, Peter Lee, said: “The sale of this portfolio, as part of Eildon’s relocation to Selkirk, offers the opportunity to purchase excellent properties in prime locations in the Borders.

“The move will enable Eildon to continue its excellent record of improving services for our customers and providing quality jobs for our staff.”
