Footie fun for pupils
Primary 2 and 3 children from Philiphaugh Community Primary School had a magical day of football and fun at a Tesco Bank Football Challenge Festival on the pitch at the National Stadium, Hampden Park, in Glasgow. In total, 30 schools came together from across the country, as part of the Scottish FA's flagship participation programme, for a finale to remember.
PUPILS from Philiphaugh Community School achieved the dream of many-a Scotland supporter when they played football on Hampden Park this week.
The children aged six to eight years were taking part in the climax to the Tesco Bank Football Challenge, with primary schools from across the country playing fun football activities provided by Scottish FA coaches.
Andy Gould, head of regional development for the Scottish FA, said: “The programme aims to get children interested in football at an early age and make them realise the benefits they can gain from playing.
“It has been great to see the children enjoy themselves at the national stadium.”
Philiphaugh’s pupils also got the chance to meet Scotland internationals Suzanne Grant of Celtic Ladies and Robert Snodgrass of Leeds United.
Robert Snodgrass said: “I love seeing the kids enjoying themselves at Hampden. It will be a memory for them for the rest of their lives.”
