Hooded and skinny suspect sought following Selkirk attack

POLICE are hunting a hooded woman who attacked and tried to rob another woman in Selkirk, writes Bob Burgess.

IT happened yesterday shortly after 9pm on the footpath on the Old Bridge Road.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders police commented: “A female was walking alone when an unidentified female approached her. This female then assaulted her and attempted to rob her.”

The 28-year-old victim managed to tell police that her attacker was white, around 5 feet 6 inches and skinny.

She said the suspect was wearing a black hoodie and black Nike trainers with a pink stripe.

The police spokesman added: “Detectives are keen to speak with anyone who was in or around the area at the time and can assist with their enquiries.”

Information can be passed to Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 or with anonymity to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The woman who was attacked did not require treatment in hospital, said police.
