Manchester City speaker in Burns Night charity goal at Baxters
BURNS Night for the Haining Trust is set to be an cracking event with special guest Manchester City FC Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee.
The famous player from Colin Bell and Francis Lee days is standing in for life president Bernard Halford, who had hoped to attend but who has had to go to a sports meeting in London. And Mike will propose the vote of thanks.
The Immortal Memory will be proposed by Elliott Henderson, Craig Douglas will make the Address to the Haggis and recite Tam O’Shanter and John Nichol will give Holy Willies Prayer, while Donny McLeod will propose the toast To the Lassies Donny McLeod and Louise Mclelland will reply.
The event takes place on Thursday (January 24) at Baxters in Dunsdalehaugh, starting at 7.30pm. And tickets (£17) for the evening will include a welcome drink, three course Burns dinner, a dancing display by local children, whisky tasting.
One of the organisers, Craig Douglas said: “We shall auction two Man City tops and the buyer will be able to have these signed by the player(s) of their choice. Hopefully people will get behind this event as it is for a really good cause.”
