Master chef

SELKIRK youngster Ben Dickson has swapped his reading book for a cook book.

The seven-year-old has joined a free cookery club for children at Baxters store on the outskirts of the town. Experts will be on hand to dish out advice in the store’s demonstration kitchen on the last Sunday of each month. Youngsters aged five to 12 will be taught how to put culinary classics on the table. Baxters manager in Selkirk Lynne Dickson commented: “We are a family-focused company and we want to put food back at the heart of the family. The Little Cooks Club aims to inspire children to experiment with food, discover more about where their food comes from and enjoy the fun of supervised cooking.” Places are free and can be booked by contacting the store on 01750 724010. Sessions on March 28 are from 9.30-10.30am and 10.45-11.45am.
