Moore keeps job as Scottish Secretary
Launch of Big Energy Week Roadshow. Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore MP. with Citizen Advice Scotland Head of Policy Susan McPhee and Hanette Carrison from Home Heat Helpline. at St James Shopping Centre.
LOCAL MP Michael Moore has survived David Cameron’s Cabinet reshuffle.
His escape is not being seen as a surprise because of the role he is playing in the battle between Cameron’s Westminster government and Alex Salmond’s Holyrood government over the planned referndum on independence.
Mr Moore commented: “In the next few months I will be continuing my work to ensure that the independence referendum, which will determine the future of Scotland, is legal, fair and decisive and I am urging the Scottish Government to work with us to achieve this aim.
“Combining Scottish Secretary with my responsibilities as Borders MP is a great privilege and I am committed to continuing to fulfil both roles energetically.
“Scotland faces many challenges in terms of the economy, growth and jobs and I am committed to getting the best deal for Borderers and all other Scots.”
