Police recover body in search for Neil
A BODY found in a reservoir is believed to be that of former Selkirk High School pupil Neil Bryson.
The Wee Paper reported last week that the 50-year-old had been missing since Tuesday, November 27, when he left his home in the West Yorkshire village of Scholes to go to work.
Almost two months later, police discovered a body in Broomhill Reservoir at Holmfirth on Saturday, which was not recovered until the following day due to bad weather.
Broomhill is near Yateholme Reservoir, one of Mr Bryson’s favourite walking spots, where his car was found abandoned on the afternoon of November 28.
Mr Bryson disappeared after leaving his family home at 6.30am to travel to work at a health authority in Bradford.
West Yorkshire Police carried out a major search involving divers, sniffer dogs, mountain rescue and a helicopter around Yateholme Reservoir without success.
Mr Bryson has been married to wife Janice for 27 years and has two sons, Harry, 24, and Jack, 20.
Mrs Bryson, 49, had appealed for information on her missing husband back in December.
She attempted to appeal directly to Mr Bryson at the time, saying: “Neil, I just want you to know how much I love you and want you home.
“It’s OK to come home. We can work through whatever has happened. Me and the boys want you to come home.”
