Raid attempt on pub

Police are probing a second attempted raid on a Selkirk pub.

A bid was made to force entry to the Town Arms between the 10pm closing time on Wednesday of last week and 10am the following day.

The would-be raider or raiders tried to force open the back door of the pub in Bogie’s Close, but failed.

The attempted break-in was discovered when a staff member arrived for work.

An almost identical bid was made to raid the hostelry just after last year’s Common Riding weekend. There were no arrests.

A police investigation into the latest bid is under way and police have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has information to come forward.
