Search is on for young musicians
CALLING all talented young musicians...the local Rotary club is holding its annual Young Musician of the Year competition later this month.
Secondary school pupils are invited to compete at Selkirk High School in the music room on Friday, January 25, from 7pm.
And the club invites entries from both singers and instrumentalists.
The winner of the club competition will go forward for the area final of what is one of the Borders’ biggest music competitions in February, which will also be held in the high school.
Previous club competition winners have included Olivia Hoppe, who went on to the regional final, and her brother Will, who won the regional title.
The competition has been running in Selkirk for 11 years. Many other Borders Rotary Clubs also take part and put forward winners to contest the area title. But Selkirk has often enjoyed a particular level of success, with a host of talented young Souters involved each year.
Anyone interested should contact Edith Scott on 07718 786841 for an entry form. The deadline for entries is Monday.
