once again the men of Selkirk who perished on the bloody field of Flodden have been remembered at services on the 1513 battlefield, writes Bob Burgess.
Royal Burgh Standard Bearer Douglas Gunn led the burgh's mounted contingent to the Coldstream Civic Week commemoration last Thursday while the Common Riding Trust was represented by Senior Bailie David Anderson.
Coldstreamer Ricky Hope led more than 300 riders over the Tweed for the ceremony on Flodden Field - or Branxton as it is known on the other side of the border.
He laid a wreath at the memorial and cut a sod on the battlefield to take back to Coldstream.
Former Coldstreamer and chairman of the 1513 Club James Bell gave the oration.
And in a solemn, almost private ceremony, at the Brave of Both Nations cross, a single thistle was laid by town representatives as the names of many of the families who perished were read out.
Selkirk's thistle was laid by Bailie Anderson.
