Selkirk staff back on bikes
EMPLOYEES of Riverside Road company R.P. Adam are pulling on their cycling helmets or walking boots for its latest charity fundraiser.
The cleaning product company is holding a cycling and walking event at Kielder Forest in aid of the Calvert Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support in the Borders.
R.P. Adam’s workforce has raised about £10,000 for good causes, and 18 workers are taking part in the latest challenge around the Northumberland woodland.
R.P. Adam’s Alan Skeldon said: “This is the fifth year we have held an event to raise money for charity.
“This year we are supporting Macmillan as almost everyone has encountered someone they know who has had cancer, and the Calvert Trust, which allows disabled people to take part in adventurous outdoor activities.
“The Calvert Trust operates a centre at Kielder and was happy to offer us the use of its facilities, plus a session on the climbing wall or abseiling.”
The event starts at 10am on Saturday, September 29 when the team will cycle around the reservoir on a 26-mile off-road path.
Those who chose to walk will tackle a 12 mile trek from 9.30am, which includes a ferry trip across the reservoir.
Anyone interested in taking part, or who wants further information, can contact R.P. Adam on 01750 21586 and ask for Allan Hossack, Alan Skeldon, or Brian Jones.
