Tea bar courts more volunteers

A COURT tea bar run by a charity could close if it can't capture more volunteers.

The Anthony Nolan Trust operates the facility at the town’s sheriff court. It provides refreshment for court customers, lawyers, staff and visitors.

Regional fundraiser Allan Johnston told The Wee Paper: “Ten eager volunteers have come forward from all parts of the Borders.

“However, we would benefit from another 10 in order to provide as full a service as possible to the people who attend the court and to minimise the commitment from each individual volunteer,” added Mr Johnston.

The trust helps provide life-saving bone marrow transplants.

It also runs tea bars at courts in Jedburgh, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Glasgow.
