Wallsend suspects deny assaulting and robbing Jedburgh pensioner

A MAN and woman have appeared in court accused of attacking and robbing a pensioner in Jedburgh early on Sunday evening, writes Bob Burgess.

Kathryn Parr, 52 of Bolem Gardens, and Gary Naisbitt, 43, of Deneholm, both Wallsend, denied the allegations.

The pair appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday. It’s claimed they punched the 69-year-old unconscious in Abbey Bridge End before stealing money and keys.

Both were freed on bail and will stand trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on December 13.

The pensioner was treated in hospital for minor injuries after being attacked shortly before 7pm.
