Selkirk youngsters hit the high notes last Friday when they clinched first places in the two sections of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year’s Borders heat.

Contestants had travelled from as far away as Biggar for the event in the music room of Selkirk High School.

The three judges admitted that their task was very difficult and Rotary’s district young musician officer John Gray said: “Such was the high standard that any one of them would acquit themselves with honour at the grand final.”
