The Haining Charitable Trust is holding a pop-up shop on Monday May 12 at 1 Tower Street to gather people’s memories about the Estate, and “encourage two-way communication” between it and the community.
“The Trust is embarking on this project to write up the history of the Haining and wants to hear from anyone who has a personal experience to relate about its history,” writes the Trusts’ Carol Byers. “Whether it was a visit to the house, fishing on the loch, working with any of the previous occupants, or interesting stories from the time the house was occupied by the army, we would like to hear from you.”
Lawrence Robertson, Estate trustee, added: “We encourage everyone to come to the pop-up shop where you can find out about the progress being made, and to provide us with any their own stories from living memory.”
The information will be used to compile a published history of the house. Haining staff and volunteers will man the shop, providing the community with information, and anyone wishing to provide a tale confidentially can send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
