Appeal to save Ettrick’s Potburn Farmhouse

Ettrick and Yarrow residents are invited to a community meeting to help restore Potburn Farmhouse, writes Sandy Neil.

The meeting will take place at Boston Hall in the Ettrick Valley on Monday, April 14, from 7-9pm.

Julie Nock, of the Southern Upland Partnership, said: “Potburn Farmhouse is in a serious state of disrepair and we have been looking at ways to bring this beautiful building back to life. Plans have been drawn up to modernise the farmhouse and there is an opportunity for the community to become involved in the development, should they so desire.

“One possible route is through so-called sweat equity and we would like to consider possible future uses for the building other than as a dwelling house.

“If you would like to hear about our progress so far, have an idea for Potburn Farmhouse, or would like to get involved in some way, please come along to the Boston Hall for the meeting. Members of staff from Cameron’s Architects and the Southern Uplands Partnership will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.”

Anyone who plans to go should call 01750 725154 or email julienock@sup.org.uk so that catering can be organised.
