Show Sunday on the way to The Haining

Indefatigable Souters battled on against the rain over the weekend, to hold the annual picnic for Selkirk primary pupils on Saturday and Show Sunday at The Haining.

Paul Tomlinson, chairman of the Executive Committee, said they took the decision to carry on regardless, to avoid disappointing the children, who went on to compete in races, meet Royal Burgh Standard Bearer Greg MacDougall and his Attendants, and enjoy the bouncy castle, face-painting and glitter tattoo tent at the event at the High School playing fields.

The weather was mercifully better for Selkirk Pipe and Silver Bands’ entertainment at Show Sunday, and the large crowds who turned up to hear the tunes.

“We were at the mercy of the weather,” Paul added, “but all the children enjoyed themselves, and Show Sunday was very successful too.”
