Earlston is about to celebrate its 42nd Civic Week – and it’s become so popular that the event is now held over 10 days.

“There’s something for everyone” is a phrase that is often used – but in Earlston it is true.

Organisers have ensured, from the youngest youngster to the most senior of senior citizens, no one has been missed out. And once again they have secured Hawick’s international band Scocha for the Friday night concert.

And there is a pride in this village that exists all-year round, but which truly comes to the fore during Civic Week.

The late Tommy Graham, a musician from Galashiels, summed it up in the second verse of his Earlston Song. He wrote:
