A specialised squad of police officers are probing a number of break-ins across the Borders – and their investigations include raids on a house and shop in Selkirk.

Between Friday and Monday, a home in Ettrickhaugh Road was entered.

Police have confirmed that a three-figure sum of cash was taken from the property.

Constable Corinne Bird said: “We are keen to trace anyone who may have details relating to this incident or who saw anything suspicious around Ettrickhaugh Road over the weekend.”

An investigation is also under way into a break-in at a shop in Mill Street.

It was discovered by the owners and happened between 4.30pm last Thursday and 5.30am the following day.

Police haven’t revealed what was taken in the raid.

Inspector Carol Wood commented: “Enquiries are ongoing, but we are keen to trace anyone who may have information.

“If anyone saw any suspicious activity in Mill Street during this period they should contact us.”

Break-ins across the region are being investigated by a unit from Operation RAC. It’s not known if they are connected.

Information can be passed on by phoning 101 or 0800 555 111.
