HIGH Street butchers J A Waters has come up with a new sausage for Selkirk Common Riding.
The recipe for the “Selkirk Souter” pork sausage, created specially for the historic annual celebrations, remains a secret with butcher Alan Scott, who started offering customers samples from Monday.
“The Selkirk Souters weren’t supposed to be on sale, but we’ve sold out every day this week,” he told us yesterday.
“Customers have just loved them and we’ve received orders beyond belief.
“They will make a good barbecue sausage when the good weather comes,” he said.
