The Blythswood Care Collection lorry will be making a visit to Selkirk on Monday, September 1, stopping at the West Port car park from 3.20pm until 4pm.

The Collection lorry accepts clothing, shoes, books, small items of furniture, bric-a-brac and foodstuffs.

The goods are taken to the Blythswood depot at Hillington and distributed to the charity’s shops or prepared for sending to partner organisations in eastern Europe, who are working to help extremely poor families and individuals.

The Blythswood Care annual Shoe Box Appeal is also under way, and leaflets, posters and DVDs are available from the Collection Lorry, online at or by contacting 0845 456 9460.

Filled boxes can be delivered to the lorry in October or November. The charity hopes to beat last year’s total of 119,000 boxes which were delivered to Blythswood’s partners in eastern Europe and Pakistan.
