It’s been another busy week for Royal Burgh Standard Bearer Greg MacDougall and his Attendants.
Last Thursday all attended a reception held by Selkirk Community Council in the Town Hall, where Greg was presented with a hip flask.
On Friday, Greg attended Lauder Appointment Night, when Craig Connell was installed as this year’s Lauder Cornet. The next day, he spent the day at Selkirk Sevens, where he carried out an auction and was presented with a tankard from Selkirk Rugby Club by John Rutherford.
Broomhill was the venue on Sunday when Rob Gray took the official Common Riding photographs followed by a reel practice in the evening.
On Monday the group practised on Linglie Hill with horses and flag.
Philiphaugh Youth Club invited them for an evening of fun yesterday, before the annual Spurs Night tonight, when Greg, his Attendants, and many other Souters will travel to Galashiels to meet the Braw Lad and Braw Lass for the annual presentation of Spurs from the Gala Souters Association.
In between all this Greg is writing speeches, thank you letters and has sent in his last essay to Harper Adams University.
