As the sun went down on Monday, members and friends of the Selkirk Ex-Soldiers’ Association gathered at the war memorial for a short service to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War. The association’s Standard Bearer, Fiona Deacon, laid floral tributes. Selkirk lost 292 sons in the conflict that later became known as World War One.
