Thirlestane Castle in Lauder is preparing to re-open to visitors this summer, when restrictions allow, for guided tours and afternoon tea sittings.

However, the Thirlestane Castle Trust is appealing to anyone who may have some spare time, whether its a few hours once a week or a day once a fortnight, to consider joining their team of volunteers to help with meeting and greeting visitors and conducting guided tours.

Edward Maitland-Carew, resident trustee, said: "We are indebted to The Friends of Thirlestane who do an important job welcoming our visitors and sharing the castle’s interesting stories with them.”
