Hawick woman rescued from flat during overnight blaze in Dovemount Place

Firefighters led one female resident from a fire which broke out in a flat in Hawick last night.

The blaze, above Gino’s Fish Bar takeaway in Dovemount Place, broke out around 1.45am and fire crews were there for around two hours.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 1.49am. We had four pumps in attendance and police and ambulance were also in attendance.

“One adult female from the first floor was led to safety.

“Crews were dampening down hot spots throughout the night.

“We left the scene again at 4.10am.”

Gino’s Fish Bar is currently closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
