Inspire Learning and BBC shows help during lockdown

Pupils in the Borders have been benefiting from Scottish Borders Council’s Inspire Learning Programme while schools are closed this month due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year’s roll-out of iPads for all pupils from P4 upwards has come into its own.

And there’s extra help for parents struggling with home teaching, with the BBC announcing new programmes to complement learning.

Judy Murray, Sanjeev Kohli and magician Kevin Quantum are amongst those helping to bring a raft of dedicated educational content to pupils on the BBC Scotland channel, iPlayer and online.

Council leader Shona Haslam said: “Since the first lockdown, pupils have been supported through remote learning successfully as a result of SBC’s investment in technology from an early stage.

“Our Inspire Learning programme has been successful in developing digital literacy, innovation and has helped older pupils boost their employability skills too.

“The BBC resources combined with remote learning will help teachers, parents and pupils through what is a very challenging time”.
