THIS year's Blanket Preaching service in the Yarrow Valley takes place on Sunday.
Worshippers will gather in the graveyard of the ruined St Mary's Church on a hillside overlooking St Mary's Loch.

The church was also known as the Kirk of the Lowes – the small loch that flows into its larger sister.

Each year on the last Friday of July the parish minister for the Valleys – under a blanket canopy – conducts an open-air service. It commemorates the days of the outlawed Covenanters who were forced to hold their religious services in hidden venue – usually secret locations in isolated hills and valleys with pickets posted to watch for government troops.

Sunday's service begins at 3pm and will be conducted by the Reverend Sam Siroky, above.

After the service teas will be served in Cappercleuch Hall in aid of the local church.
