FEARS that Selkirk had lost a pub and eating house when The Place failed to open last week have proved unfounded.
The High Street hostelry was back in business this week. Owner Kevin Crawford admitted trade had been slow, but says he is taking steps to boost customers.

He said staff availability was one of the reasons why the pub remained shut last week. In a bid to pull in more custom, he has cut his drink prices.

Mr Crawford – who runs an event management business and dance group The Strangers – took over and opened the refitted bar earlier this year after a period of closure.
