Four-year wait for village houses

Plans for six detached houses in Lilliesleaf were given the go-ahead on Monday, four years after being submitted.
Proposals to develop the two-acre greenfield site east of Muslie Drive were originally delayed because of concerns that the sewage system in the village was running at capacity.

But at Monday's meeting of the Eildon Area Committee, following confirmation from Scottish Water that new water waste treatment works would be completed by the end of 2009, approval was given for the plans submitted by Galashiels-based builder Murray & Burrell, despite concerns from four local objectors ranging from road safety to the negative impact on existing properties.
